It would be good to have the notes or comments box on the home page just to add anything that may need to be seen every time you go to the candidate or company. These are separate from communications.

  I Agree with Lee on this point, there must be a clear quick note ( latest/ Imp commnet ) facility on every candidate profile main page. this is a quick message to other colleagues about this candidate profile.
